Dear Readers,

the last two days I have been dealing with car issues.. my car was pretty messed up and I had to send it in to the shop. since nobody was available to pick me up, and I am too young still to rent a car.. I was forced to walk all over until someone could get me. my mom was nice enough to let me borrow her car to go to school yesterday morning. I live on a sort of "ghetto" street and so I parked her car quite a ways away from my house.. when I woke up to go to school and walked to her car it wouldn't start.. the key was jammed. I shook the wheel like crazy and tried to get it to work but it just wouldn't.. after a while I decided that It must have some crazy security device inside so I tried to call. after no answer and sitting there until class was about 15 min in I decided to walk to the coffee shop. It was actually a pretty nice walk and I have a video with lots of footage to show you all. so please enjoy!

DEAR READERS,

Life is funny sometimes. when it seems like everything is going down down down, something good will happen.. and in most cases I don't know how to deal with the adjustment. like when I realized that Steph and I weren't going to work out, Alannah came back into my life.. or how when she left, Molly came into focus.. its strange the way that all of this stuff goes down. after Molly and I were obviously not going to work out I moved to Los Angeles.. it was great.. I would go out and party and wouldn't even have to drive, all the best food.. everywhere! and constant entertainment in all genres…. then… I got fired from my job..

after that the stress started.. so I went to school.. I though that I would at least get some grants that would help me get by until I got my stuff together. unfortunately on account of our screwed up government regulations I wouldn't be eligible for financial aid until it was too late.. luckily I had understanding parents.. or should I say.. parents that were willing to help.. to pull me bye. but this last month it was looking like I was going to have to pack my stuff in the old covered wagon and head back home..

a good friend of mine hooked me up with a employee from LAMILL.. a place that I have wanted to work at since I moved to this "little town" and have been trying hard ever since to land the job…. she led me safely into employment.

so now I, Trevor Martin! can say that he is a Bar-back and future Barista at LAMILL coffee & tea.. and I fucking love it!

if only my alarm clock could give me caffeine injections

Dear Readers,

lately I have been having some real trouble waking up on time.. which has led to me missing a lot of class.. which sucks.. I blame my severe depression, and lack of enthusiasm. but in all trueness I am just pain lazy. today I was smart enough to reset my alarm clock after it woke me up.. but had I not, I would still be sleeping right now..

I am so thankful for the wonderful world that is coffee. I remember being in elementry school, and waking up early so my sister and I could walk down to "limelight Java" and grab a few quick fixes… we were in freaking elementary school. sure they say that children who have a taste for coffee at such a young age will most likely be a heavy coffee drinker by the time they are adults. I had no idea it would reach this level of obsession. the only thing better than drinking, buying, smelling, and buzzing on coffee, is making it.. and lucky for me I may have found a way to do this professionally.

My friend Lindsey has an in at LAMILL. this is a high end coffee shop/cafe by my house, which I have been applying at, and contacting with no results since I move here last may.. it has been my dream to work here even before I lived here, and I basically moved to the area on account of the good coffee, and concert overflow.. so Lindsey hooked me up with her friend ( who I will not name on account of just meeting the person and not knowing how they feel about being posted on some silly blog ) and she needs to train a host so she can move up to server.. so she asked me to come in on sat.. (tomorrow) and shadow her as a host.. I think if I do a good job then I will get the position.. if I get the position it wont take me long to become a barista.. this is something I have been wanting to do for sooooo long.. I have some experience on account of training a bit with "flourfusion" and of coarse the secret book that my sister gave me, which I honestly cannot name on account of BIG TROUBLE! if anybody finds out that I have it… not for me of coarse.. she is responsible, but it doesn't matter anyway. in a few months she will be far off in a tiny little Japanese land… anyway I am really into coffee and I feel like I am finally getting the opportunity that I need to do what I love, in the place that I deserve to be associated with.. LAMILL.. I hope to gosh that you choose me as your new family/team member..

lately I have been taking some long walks through my neighborhood. you see such strange things in Los Angeles.. such unattractive yet, very interesting images. Silver-lake is particularly strange.. it is very much a young community, but there is this ghetto side to it. like soho but closer to the ground.. people here are primarily dumb.. and by people I mean the SILVERLAKE people.. the Hipsters, or scene kids, or BERKGRADS (as me and my sis call em')
they are very into themselves, and very fashion oriented. a lot of the local band are doing basically the same thing, with the real difference being in the tightness of their pants, or the pointedness of their little boots. don't get me wrong, they are good people deep down, it just kind of sucks when "SHEIK' is the new "POP" most of these kids look like they would be on drugs, or some kind of freaky freak.. but when you talk to them you can't tell if they were born in beverly hills, or Malibu. anyway it can get pretty repetitive at times.

any way, I am going to be late for school if I don't get my butt in gear so until later,
have a good day
bye now
Trevor Martin

Yesterday, and the blogging restraint that the government has to put on me every once in a while

Dear Readers,

Yesterday was pretty Okay. I went to get my hair cut at my appointment… 11:00 but when the lady answered the door she said she was buys and for me to come back in an hour. instead I walked a few blocks down to some other place. it was a little more "hip" than the other place.. which when I am getting my hair cut I don't usually like to be attacked with electronic music. but the place turned out to be pretty good… I mean they cut my hair right?

Then I went home to take a shower, and I went out to put some applications out.. I need a new job. I can' t stand these lawyers anymore. so I ended up walking all the way to the junction and back up Hyperion. I am kind of sore now but I think I am going to go for another walk. maybe up glendale the other direction. but right now I need waffles and coffee. I think I better get myself moving. I want to check out atwater rehearsal studios tonight. supposedly they have soundproof rooms, I have been working on this song that I want to record. If I can finish the thing by tonight I might have a new song for my little project.

In Regards to Early Dolphin and the Echo Curio

DEAR READERS,

Last night after a long, drag out battle with my self confidence, I decided to go to the Early Dolphin Record Release. The Venue was "echo curio" which is one of the deciding factors on account of it being right by my house and one of my favorite places to see underground music…. Yes even more than the smell!….. much more than the smell. I like the art, the smallness, the way you see the cars passing by outside, or how it is right in echo park and all the strange hot dog selling guys are everywhere outside, or how it is BYOB… and all that stuff.

The first time I went to echo curio was to see the amazing
Tiny Vipers. I had bought her new album just before the show,
and had fallen in love with her last one far before the show.
since I had never been to the echo curio I had no Idea what to
expect. I had to ask like two guys before I believed that it was
actually BYOB. I drank a great big Sapporo and chilled out on
the floor to watch one of the most amazing shows I had ever seen.
Jesse Fortino can really sing, and play that guitar as well. she
seems to bring a voice out of both herself, and her instrument, that can best be described as "the voice of a goddess".
she humbly went through her set, song after song, without saying
a word and by the time the show was over nobody knew exactly
what had just happened in front of them. the show was stellar!

Any way last night I was awoken to a alarm on my phone informing me that I had to see the early dolphin show tonight. I hit up facebook, and other forms of communication to find somebody who would want to enjoy the show with me but nobody ended up committing. so I went alone. Going to a show alone for me has always been kind of an unsettling/educational thing. I mean when I do anything I feel awkward enough but when I am at a show all by myself I just don't fit in. I guess I kind of feel like people are staring at me, saying things to each other like, "who's this asshole with the camera" or "look at this guy taking pictures" or "YOUR TOO CLOSE TO ME DUDE"… actually that last one somebody really said to me last night.. the fregging door guy. which seems like a horse shit statement considering he works in a venue that usually fills beyond capacity… get used to it "DUDE". So anyway I mustered up the courage to go it alone. and I felt awkward just the same. one thing that was incredibliy different was that this was my first time seeing drums played in this venue. I have only seen two other shows here (the first being tiny vipers)-which is solo acoustic, and the second being some weird noise thing that was percussion-less. anyway the sound of cymbals and snare I noticed really stand out in this place, when they were doing the sound check I remember saying to myself, "that guitar is way too loud!" but when they started playing it was totally drowned out in the heavy hissing of the cymbals. they fixed the audio after the first song and the place seemed to be screaming at you from all sides. the place really fills up with sound..

The first band to play was a band called "the spires".. and they were awesome.

They were a trio, two girls(rhythm) and a guy that took good care of the guitars and vocals. the guy sort of reminded me of Bill Callahan in the way he sang and played, which is funny becuause he actually made a reference to Callahan when they were sound checking. think of if you mixed Smog with the Poppiness of Josh Rouse and then realized that you were in a dream. that is the feeling that this band gives off. very punchy rythems, simple yet fitting, with sloshy guitar solos and dancing vocal melody. this band ended up being my favorite of the night.

The Next band on the lineup was the group that I went to see. They were called "early Dolphin". really good band. they remind me of wilco, yet sometimes remind me of BJM. which in my opinion is a pretty strange mix. anyway they really blew me away as well. the singer guy must be a little crazy. they rocked out and then blew away. the whole thing seemed pretty brief. but I guess I had been waiting there for music to start for like an hour and a half. luckily the liqour store across the street knows some great ways to spend your time between set breaks. although most of my time was spend collecting photos and b-roll footage. I really like the photo I have here of these crazy "bottle nosed" dogs.

Finally was the amazing pop ensemble "THE FRENCH SEMESTER" which could be better described than the Description by my friend Lindsey.. "THEY ARE CUTE" some of the best LO-FI underground Pop music that you can get right up to your face like this. they were really good. the vocals were way too low the whole time. which sucks because they have cool lyrics and cool vocal harmonies. us (the audience) kept telling them.. but nobody ever fixed it. any way they were really loud in general and it came as a perfect finale to the show.

after the show I was starving and scraped up just enough money to go to del taco. but they fucked my order up by putting the devil "dairy" on my burritos even after confirming that I had said "no cheese" and when I got home and realized it was far to late for me to venture out and fix it. so I just went to bed starving. and to tell you the truth here I am in the morning still hungry and blogging. I really need to get some grub. anyway hope you all enjoy the video and I hope next time somebody will be more inclined to come along.

Video Coming Soon!!!
